Let's bring your songs to life!

We will work together from the very beginning with you playing your songs on your main instrument, through all tracking and production, all the way to digital distribution, if that is your goal. I am here to work with you on the entire "song lifecycle"!

Collaboratively and for each song we will:

  • work on the final song arrangement

  • create each song's rhythmic structure

  • agree on song instrumentation

  • experiment and agree on vocal approach including background vocals

  • experiment and agree on production style, based on our ideas and listening to reference songs

More details on the process and song lifecycle:

  • Tracking (recording each track) will primarily be done in person in my studio, though remote options are also available

  • I will bring session musicians in as needed

  • Final production with additional instruments and layers, plus mixing and mastering will be done in my studio

  • Each finished song will become a high-resolution audio file ready for digital distribution to Spotify, Apple Music, etc.

  • I can provide coaching on digital distribution and publishing options

Tell Me That You Know - Ayla Novemsky

This is the first song that Ayla and I worked on.  She sent me a playlist for production references and has made me a fan of Taylor Swift and Lorde! A giant shout out to Hal Hirsch (guitarist) and Paul Weinberg (bass, keyboard pad) for their fantastic work on this song. I used a mix of Nord Drum and real drums on this one, and totally enjoyed all of the incredible vocal tracks that Ayla put down on this.  Take a listen!

Honeymoon - Ayla Novemsky

Ayla came to me with this song and I was struck by how deep, dark and emotional it was. Almost immediately I was hearing bowed upright bass on it and we are so fortunate to have worked with the great Kevin Brown on this song.  Ayla is playing piano on this, I played drum set with mallets and created the underlying pad layer.  I could not be happier with how it turned out!

Stuff Bros

Stuff Bros is a band that I've played with for over 10 years. We actively perform in and around the South Orange/Maplewood area and completed these soon-to-be released originals in 2022. I recorded the drums and guitars in a cabin in the Catskills, while all other tracks were recorded in my home (except for the incomparable Zach Brock on violin who recorded his tracks in his home). I mixed and produced these songs, though co-production props go to my Stuff brothers who were deeply involved in the process.  In 2024 these songs were re-mastered at Storybook Sound by Scott Anthony.

Autumn - Karen Novy

Karen and I co-produced this record a while back, working on arrangements, instrumentation, and recording approach. Autumn is one of my favorite tracks on the record and features a beautiful blend of acoustic instruments along with electric bass. The low-end drum is the only album recording I've ever made with my clay djembe.

Superluminal - Thursday Habit

Recorded completely remotely in the early days of Covid, I created a map of the song and laid down drums, from which the band each tracked their parts. There were so many keyboard and guitar tracks that this became a puzzle to assemble in the most fun fashion. What started as an audio engineering project turned into a video engineering project as well! We are all super proud of this song, one of our best and most collaborative compositions.
